In the section about the wedding and the reception, you can find information about the church in which the ceremony will be held and the reception venue. In the section maps and directions, you can find detailed information to get there.
On this page, on the other hand, you find suggestions for flights, accommodation and other "practical stuff".
The best airport in the area is Pisa's Galileo Galilei airport. It is very conveniently located to get to Civitella Marittima and it is a nice small airport, where many European airlines (including low-cost airlines) fly. Delta Airlines has recently started a direct flight to/from New York JFK airport.
So, if you are still planning, Pisa is our recommendation. If you come from Canada, there is a good route operated by Airfrance from Toronto to Pisa via Paris, or from Montreal to Pisa via Paris. British Airways flies to Pisa as well, via London. The trouble there is that you need to change airports in London (from Heathrow to Gatwick) which can be a pain.
For those who wish to fly relatively low cost, Zoom flies to London Gatwick from most Canadian cities and Easy Jet has recently started a Gatwick-Pisa low cost route. So that might be an option too.
Most European carriers fly to Pisa, so guests coming from England and other European countries should not have troubles getting there. Here is a list of airlines that fly to Pisa and the airports from which they leave. It is possible that the list is not exhaustive or up to date, so you might want to check Pisa airport website directly.
Florence is closer to the village, but the airport is smaller and not as nice, however it is still a good option. Scandinavian airlines fly to Florence. The third option is the Rome airports: Fiumicino is much better than Ciampino.
As far as driving times go, Pisa is a 2h drive, Florence is 1h20min drive, Rome Fiumicino is a 3h drive and Rome Ciampino is at least 3h30min depending on how long it takes to circumnavigate Rome.
A good option may be the new direct flight from Toronto and Montreal to Rome operated by Zoom. It is quite a bit cheaper than any other direct flight. You might want to look into that.
You will need to rent a car: this part of Tuscany is not easy to navigate without a car. There are many car rentals, most of them are quite expensive. The best deals are generally offered by Europcar. An interesting option (if you can do without American-size cars) is Sixt and its low cost branch Sixti - smart car rental. Whatever you choose, do not rent a big car: you will not be able to drive it or park it anywhere. If they offer a free upgrade... say no! A Fiat Punto size is what you need in this part of the world for 2 passengers and a Ford Focus size is perfect for 4 people if you want to share. Your best option is to rent at the airport.
As you can imagine there is no lack of accommodation in Tuscany...! We are very sorry that we cannot put up all those who will join us in the celebrations, but we will do our best to find the best solution in the immediate surrounding area. Please, contact us directly if you need to book accommodation. Thank you. Here is a list of recommended hotels and B&B:

Fattoria Nuova Pievanella
For those who want to enjoy first class accommodation in Tuscany, our recommendation is this beautiful place near Monte Antico, 20min from Civitella. The place is totally immersed in the countryside and the views over the Ombrone Valley and the Val d'Orcia are breath-taking. They have rooms and apartments, and a long list of facilities (swimming pool, tennis court, games room, library, etc.). If you stay there, you definitely need accommodation for the night of the reception at the Castle of Grotti as getting back might be tricky.

Since the booking season has already started, and this is a very popular area, please make sure you let us know as soon as possible if you need accommodation and for which dates. Please make sure to have your accommodation booked by the end of February. Thank you.
As you know the reception will be held at the Castle of Grotti in the evening of the 21st. For those who wish to fully enjoy the evening without having to worry about driving back to their hotel after the dinner (and the open bar...), the castle has rooms available at 50 euros per person. Please let us know as soon as possible whether you wish to stop at the castle after the reception. Thank you.
